Pure coffee shop, Manly

I don’t know if you’ve watched the film Ratatouille but there’s a bit near the end where the evil-restaurant-critic-guy makes a speech: “…we (critics) thrive on negative criticism, which is fun to write and to read…the average piece of junk is more meaningful than our criticism designating it so…” I agree, pushing negativity doesn’t tend to be good for anyone and I often think that critical reviews are hasty, subjective and lacking perspective. I practised some of the steps from last night, although I had forgotten the footwork, but mostly I tried to practise the cuban salsa body movement – hips and shoulders. That …

harbour swim

Went for my first ocean swim in ages this evening. It wasn’t an amazing evening for it – bit overcast, fair amount of junk in the water – but I had a nice time anyway, good to get wet and stretch my limbs.
There was heaps of marine life. I saw a few sting rays, big fish, see-through fish, long pointy fish and tiny tiny fish. There were also a lot of jellyfish. I haven’t seen little ones like these before (they weren’t blue bottles). There …
