Highlights: France

Six perfect days at Lake Annecy with my little giselle.
Doing all our favourite things but attempting them at a gentle, relaxed pace.
Breathing the amazing air, drinking (pore-ously and pot-ably) the delicious water, baking in the gorgeous sunshine and then, unfortunately getting soaked in full on mountain rainfalls.
Et après…
Two days in Paris with lovely Kate, doing, er, not a lot but loving every second.

Support: Ironman UK, Team True Spirit

update
The UK Ironman triathlon will take place 31 July in Bolton, Lancashire. Around 1,500 athletes will be participating and places allow qualification for the awesome Hawaii 2011 Ironman. I’m writing about this because my best friend Catherine will be competing, but under really special circumstances.
Team True Spirit
Catherine is a rehab instructor at Headley Court, a Defence Medical Rehabilitation Unit. She works her rehab magic (and she does have magic fingers) on individuals who have suffered extreme injuries through military (navy, airforce and army) service.
This year there are …

Bali 2011

Seven days on the glorious island of Bali. An immediately calming but strengthening environment.

This time I saw more of the beaches and ventured inland to Ubud – a cruise-y, spiritual town.

Fun times were had on surf board, bike, yoga mat and dance floor. And there was plenty of fuel from the nation’s superb Bintang and anything-with-peanut-sauce dishes :)

I hope I make it back again some day…

Sunday bike ride

I’ve been plagued with flat tyres recently: Lola’s gone down three times and poor Larry was flat after the trip to Batemans. There were a few offers and then I attempted to change Larry’s spare, which means I stood in street downloading a ‘how to’ YouTube video, and was then rescued by the unlikely duo of the upstairs removal guy and a Manly Cab driver. Sweet. And Lola.. after being helped out by Scott (Dinsdale) and Fernando, it was finally Dee Why Beach Cycles who got her back …

bike ride in the Hunter Valley

Ahead of the iMedia Brand Summit and ad:tech breakfast briefing Scott and I went bike riding around the Hunter. It was a picture-perfect day: sun shiny with a few clouds, bit of a breeze, ideal. Scott had just flown in from LA and I’d gone to the airport early to get him, so we were both ready to shift some energy. We pinged out of the Cypress Lakes Resort, I’d taken Lola (of course) and Scott had a slightly bashed, but sweet, polka dot Cannondale from the KOM boys.

Saturday Bike Ride

It’s been a while since I’ve gone on a nice cruise-y ride. Most recently all the bike rides have been pounding, get-the-ks-under-the-belt, many accompanied by Jamie funny enough. So it was nice to get kitted up, casual, no time pressure, and no worry about time, distance, destination pressure. In the end Fernando came too – it’s the first time we’ve been out together. And it was an awesome morning.

Manly to Palm Beach and back. Snaking the beaches on the way. Enjoying the few hills …

HIM T-35: mixed feelings

Yesterday I did a massive bike ride, 93k roughly. It felt pretty good and I didn’t know I’d gone that far until I got home and measured it, so that’s always a bonus. My time was good and all things considered I felt alright.
