Excellent weekend components: planes overhead, bike riding, waterfront cocktails, new toothbrushes, seaside spa, BBQ, jumpers-for-pillows, funniness, sea swimming, good goggles, posh tapas.

London bike ride

Got this new app, London Bike Rides, from the same dude that does the London Bike Rides website and blog. The app is well worth getting – it presents the rides really well, and you can choose by road/ trail/ hilly etc. which is marvellous.
I did the ‘Tower Bridge to Greenwich Park’ ride although really the route just served as inspiration and I added, picked & mixed my own bits. And it was worth it for the inspiration. I never come to East London and I certainly hadn’t realised how quickly I would be here. It was my first time going through Greenwich foot tunnel

I never got bored of bike riding to Palm Beach and I don’t suppose I’ll get bored of bike riding around Richmond Park.
Today was beautifully clear and the air was a bit cooler than recently, which is just how I like my days. My lovely new bike needed a lovely spin and he got it. The roads were clear enough, I took York Road instead of St John’s Hill, then Roehampton Lane instead of Sheen Lane (although that was a mistake).

Ireland

Four days that felt like four weeks. If you know me at all, see if you can work out why… there was good bike riding, nice coffee shop action, free wifi, plentiful wine, lots of giggles, time to read, write & hang. Triple double boom.

bike riding in Brighton

Bike riding by the ocean, it’s right up there. And on a sunny Sunday, with me Dad, ah, happy girl.
We had a very simple approach: from Brighton town centre go East as far as we want (which turned out to be East Saltdean), back to the middle to meet Mum for lunch, then West as far as we want (which was just past some mammoth port/ industrial park) and back to the middle for beers.
It was crazily windy – I got side plained twice! – but sunny and pretty, …

SOSA (day off #3): escaping

Putting some physical and mental distance between day-to-day and today.
Doing something different, somewhere different with somepeople different.
BUT there were still bikes, pancakes, rice fields and yogic reflections :)

green birds in Richmond Park

Not a pun about the bike riding kit the other girls are wearing but, in fact, proper green birds flying around in Richmond Park. I’ve mentioned them before but this time they sat still long enough. Sorry the picture’s not better, I still panicked a bit. Are they cockatoos d’you reckon?
