Having been reminded that I wanted to run round Wimbledon Common (thank you) and given how nice the weather was today I kicked on my funky shoes and pinged off. The kit is still really good; this toe-strike thing is feeling more & more comfortable.
Clapham Junction to Wimbledon is a funny zig-zaggy effort at the best of times (i.e. on a bike) and I hadn’t put a heap of effort into planning my route. In short I was lost within ten minutes of leaving the house. …

Running shoes get knackered quickly don’t they. Annoying, but half the fun of sport is the kit. Lucky girl here because Marie bought my latest pair as a birthday present (thank you my gorgeous friend) AND they’re barefoot shoes, Nike Free 3.0 no less.

I’ve been banging on about the benefits of barefoot and VFF running for a while to anyone that will listen. This good Oatmeal-esque picture explains the science, the good, the bad, the consequences better than I can, and it’s quicker than reading Chris’s wonderful book. Thank you @jenicarhee

get on with it… (Vibram FFs)

Enough walking to warm up.. Enough recovery. Enough wondering if they look odd. Let’s get these bad boys on the road…
As I started to run the impact was noticeable, I could feel it right through my body. Just a different level of shock each time I landed. But that settled down pretty quickly. I could also feel an extra stretch/ strain behind my ankle, at the base of my calves (really must learn some body parts). And then that settled down too.
