Wimbledon

Early evening stint at Wimbledon. I’ve never been – it’s massive! And flowery. Fortuantely Catherine is like a walking, talking TV Times for tennis fixtures so I just trailed her around nodding like I had a clue.

First up we watched Murray’s win on what was Henman Hill. That was fun, heaps of people, good atmosphere, chat, lots of paps etc. I held some dude’s umbrella so he could swig his red wine (class), and helped the guy behind me take lotus so he could fit on the step. It was amusing, AND there was tennis.

Then we started a whistle stop tour of the end of lots of matches: Court 2 for ladies doubles with the Williams sisters, they were very impressive. Court 1, mostly to say that I’d been to Court 1, but we saw Martinez in ladies doubles although I wouldn’t have known cos we were that high up. Final viewing was Cash +1 vs. McEnroe (turned out not to be John) +1 on one of the open courts. That was fun, they were just pinging around at the end, playing up for the crowd and good on ’em.

Inbetween Catherine masterminded us through a lot of little courts, all the little courts with junior male matches, so odd…
