salsa update

Haven’t done many updates but that’s because I’ve been out ALL the time :)

So, for the last few weeks the routine has been something like:
Sunday: Docks
Monday: lessons with Buena Vista Dance
Tuesday: Establishment (not as often as the rest)
Wednesday: lessons with Picante Dance
Thursday: lessons with Picante Dance and then Cruise Bar or Sugar Lounge
Friday & Saturday: remind my friends I still live here :)

It’s been a lot of 1, 2, 3 am finishes, I’ve met heaps of cool people, and, the best news – it’s really starting to come together. The lessons are great for bedding in basics, and building on the moves that I know. Plus it’s good to practice with the same people without reading a new lead. Also we do Rueda which is too much fun to even start talking about.
But the social dancing is where the magic is really happening. A couple of huge break throughs this week: this might seem like an odd thing to say at this stage, as in a bit late, but I felt like I got the rhythm better than ever before, it felt great. And, I was out one night and this guy who I see out all the time asked me to dance – this alone was an achievement to me cos he seems pretty advanced to me – but the best part was the we killed it on the dance floor. People made space, people watched, we were doing these cute chatty things throughout the moves and he dipped me round til my hair bushed the floor! It wasn’t all easy on the eye though – I had to call it because I was SO slick n sweaty! Honestly, I have no idea how all these other chicks look airbrushed & stunning and I look like I’ve been playing netball all night. Next thing to work on I guess.

I am loving it. This is so much fun. If you don’t see me, hear from me, etc you know where to find me (see above).

Hasta luego
